It was announced on the 3rd that manga artist Reiji Matsumoto (80), known for “Galaxy Express 999” and other works, will make a guest appearance in episode 7 (broadcast on the 4th) of the TBS Sunday Theatre “99.9-Criminal Lawyer- SEASON II,” starring popular group Arashi member Matsumoto Jun.
Reiji Matsumoto said, “This was my first time appearing in a drama, and it was a new learning experience for me to see so many staff members and actors taking so much time to create it. I used to swim long distances and run around the fields and mountains when I was young, so I’m confident in my physical strength, and the length of the shoot was no problem.” Unagi no Bori

Matsumoto Reiji appears in a scene at the restaurant “Itokonchi” where the main character, Miyama Hiroto, played by Matsumoto Jun, is staying. In the stills released, Matsumoto Reiji with an afro hairstyle is seen, as well as the back of a person who seems to be the heroine Maetel from “Galaxy Express 999”, and the seventh episode will be a unique collaboration between “99.9” and “999”.
In addition, in the third episode broadcast on January 28th, Katsura Masakazu, who is also from the manga world and has worked on “Wingman”, “Video Girl Ai”, and “I”s”, appeared in “Itokonchi” following season 1, attracting much attention, and Matsumoto Reiji also showed enthusiasm for a reappearance, saying, “If there is another opportunity, I would love to see you again.”
“99.9 – Criminal Lawyer” is set in the world of criminal defense, where the conviction rate is 99.9%, and depicts the activities of criminal lawyers who pursue the truth by focusing on the remaining 0.1% possibility in a situation where it is impossible to overturn the situation. Season 1 was broadcast in April 2016 in the “Sunday Theater” time slot, which has produced hits such as “Naoki Hanzawa” and “Downtown Rocket”.
“SEASON II” depicts a triangle that adds a judge to the lawyer vs. prosecutor structure from the previous series, and also stars Kimura Fumino as former judge and lawyer Ozaki Maiko, and rakugo artist Shofutei Tsurube as elite judge Kawakami Kenichiro, acting president of the Tokyo District Court. It airs every Sunday at 9pm.
In the 7th episode on the 4th, Sada (Kagawa Teruyuki) is arrested after Ogata (Hyadain), the president of Ogata Technology, where Sada serves as legal adviser, disappears. Will Miyama (Matsumoto Jun) and Maiko (Kimura), who have been hired to defend him, be able to help Sada?

「銀河鉄道999」などで知られるマンガ家の松本零士さん（80）が、人気グループ「嵐」の松本潤さん主演のTBS系日曜劇場「99.9-刑事専門弁護士- SEASONII」の第7話（4日放送）にゲスト出演することが3日、分かった。
松本零士さんは「初めてのドラマ出演で、たくさんのスタッフや役者さんが時間をかけて作りあげる姿にまた新しい勉強となりました。幼いころ遠泳したり野山を駆け回っていたので、体力には自信がありますので、撮影の長さはへっちゃらでした」と振り返っている。

松本零士さんが登場するのは、松本潤さん演じる主人公の深山大翔（みやま・ひろと）が居候する小料理屋「いとこんち」のシーン。公開された場面写真には、アフロヘア姿の松本零士さんに加え、「銀河鉄道999」のヒロイン・メーテルらしき人物の後ろ姿が写り込んでいて、第7話では「99.9」と「999」との異色コラボが実現する。
また、1月28日放送の第3話では、同じマンガ界から「ウイングマン」「電影少女」「I”s」の桂正和さんが、シーズン1に続いて「いとこんち」に登場し、話題を集めていたが、松本零士さんも「また機会がありましたら、ぜひよろしくお願いします」と再登場に意欲を見せていた。
「99.9-刑事専門弁護士-」は、有罪率99.9％という刑事弁護の世界を舞台に、逆転不可能な状況の中、残された0.1％の可能性にこだわって事実を追求しようとする刑事専門弁護士たちの活躍を描く。シーズン1は「半沢直樹」「下町ロケット」などヒット作を生み出してきた「日曜劇場」枠で、2016年4月期に放送された。
「SEASONII」は、前作での弁護士VS検事の構図に裁判官を加えたトライアングルが描かれ、元裁判官の弁護士・尾崎舞子役で木村文乃さん、東京地方裁判所所長代行のエリート裁判官・川上憲一郎役で落語家の笑福亭鶴瓶さんも出演する。毎週日曜午後9時に放送。
4日の第7話は、佐田（香川照之さん）が顧問弁護を務めるオガタテクノロジーの社長・緒方（ヒャダインさん）が失踪したことで、佐田自身が逮捕されてしまう事態に発展する。弁護を請け負った深山（松本潤さん）と舞子（木村さん）は、佐田を助けることができるのか……という内容。
